Concern for the near future of Downtown Akron???

With the public knowledge that Buckingham, Doolittle & burroughs is exiting downtown and relocating to a new building in Fairlawn next year, and the recent article on Piatto's leaving downtown to go to the Sheraton in Cuyahoga Falls. What can Akron do to keep businesses downtown? I believe we can start with mid range to upscale housing near or directly in downtown Akron. In order to do this, certain amenities such as Grocery, Gas, Dry-Cleaning, etc need to be provided. Although Grocery and Gas are relatively nearby, they may not be envisioned as a comfortable resource for safe access at later hours and this is a mandatory need. Ultimately, downtown has to be made a sedentary place versus the current destination place it has grown into, where folks come to visit for Aeros Baseball Games, Fine dining & Theatre. Now I have only been here for a little over 5 years and I do not want to take anything away from Downtown Akron's revitalization, as it has grown immensely from what I hear was a desolate new beginning. But in order to continue in the right direction, Akron needs to keep the professionals from leaving downtown Akron at 5PM and fleeing to the cozy surrounding suburbs. Imagine the Mayflower Building offering Condo's with a direct view of Canal Park, Bricco's restaurant full of neighbors getting together for a Sunday Pot Luck Dinner, and University of Akron students purchasing Condo's to live in while attending classes and working nearby.... Just imagine the tax dollars flowing into the city.... Good stuff with Great Potential.
